__________________________________________________________________________ Free psychiatric clinic, the Psychiatric Care Clinic for Katrina Victims. www.ppp-pc.com We are open twice a week: Tuesdays at Peachtree Christian Church in Midtown and Thursdays at Sardis United Methodist Church in Buckhead. Both sites are open in the evening only, from 7:30p.m. until 9:30p.m. We are able to provide psychiatric assessments for children and adults. We are also able to provide free medications and/or prescriptions, if appropriate. It is our hope to serve those in need until they may be incorporated into already existing mental health systems. We need your help in getting the word out so people will know we are open. Is there a way to let your members know we are open and what we are doing? Also, if anyone would like to volunteer their services, please have them email Katrina@ppp-pc.com. Thank you in advance for your support. Lisa Huber, M.D.404-372-1707 (Clinic information line) P.S. We have also learned from Mack Marsh of the Shreveport Center that centers in Shreveport, Baton Rouge, and Lake Charles are assisting evacuees. Visit NBCC.org Due to the overwhelming need for emergency mental health services in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the American Red Cross is temporarily waiving its requirement of ARC Disaster Mental Health Certification for counselors holding the NCC and NCSC credentials. As long as you are an NCC, NCSC or LPC, the Red Cross will consider your application.
If you are interested in volunteering with the ARC in the Gulf Coast region and can commit to time away from your normal schedule, we urge you to download and complete the following forms and submit them directly to the American Red Cross via fax to (202) 303-0233. Remember, even though the forms indicate that DSHR certification is required, it is not necessary during this time of crisis. However, we would like to encourage you to consider enrolling in Red Cross DSHR training in the future so that those of you willing to continue to assist the ARC will be able to do so at any time. Visit www.nbcc.org for the paperwork.
