LPC Week / Day 2025: Making Our Voices Heard Across Georgia

January 27 - January 31, 2025
Capstone Event: LPC Day at the Capitol – January 29, 2025

LPC Week 2025 is all about making our voice heard across Georgia. This week, we are uniting to promote the Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) profession to the public, create widespread awareness of our vital work, and foster a deep sense of pride and identity within our community. We are the largest group of mental health professionals in the state, and it’s time to step into the spotlight and show the public exactly who we are, what we do, and why we matter.

From January 27 through January 31, we will use each day to elevate the profile of LPCs in Georgia, culminating in LPC Day at the State Capitol on January 29—the heart of our advocacy efforts. This is the week to show our state that LPCs are indispensable in addressing the mental health needs of our communities.

The purpose of LPC Week is twofold:

First, we aim to eliminate the ongoing confusion surrounding the role of professional counselors. As the most extensive mental health workforce in Georgia, LPCs are at the forefront of providing crucial services to the community. Yet, politicians, leaders, and the public sometimes misunderstand or overlook our contributions. LPC Week is designed to make sure our voice is loud and clear, so everyone understands the key part we play in Georgia’s mental health landscape.

Second, LPC Week is about fostering a sense of pride among professional counselors. We want LPCs to feel the same recognition and respect that other licensed medical professionals enjoy. With our significant presence in the state’s mental health system, this week is a chance to reinforce the value of what we do and celebrate our collective impact on Georgia’s mental health care.

While the week includes workshops designed to develop professional skills, those sessions supplement the larger goal of making the LPC voice heard across the state and building pride within our profession.

On January 29, LPC Day at the Georgia State Capitol, we will gather to stand together and show Georgia’s policymakers that professional counselors are essential to the state’s mental health care system. As the largest force in the mental health workforce, we will raise awareness, advocate for policies that support our work, and remind legislators of the critical role we play in improving mental health care.

This day is the pinnacle of LPC Week, offering an opportunity for professional counselors to advocate for the future of our profession while educating the public about the vital work we do. By showing up, we’ll send a clear message: LPCs are not just providers; we are advocates, change-makers, and leaders in mental health care.

Let’s unite to make our voices heard and ensure that Georgia understands the value and impact of Licensed Professional Counselors as the most significant part of the state’s mental health workforce.

LPC Day: GA State Capitol Celebration - January 29, 2025

Promoting Awareness and Advocacy for Professional Counselors

LPC Day at the Capitol is a vital opportunity for Licensed Professional Counselors (LPCs) to gather at Georgia’s State Capitol and advocate for our profession. This event is designed to promote awareness of the role professional counselors play in the mental health landscape while providing legislators with a better understanding of how LPCs are key to addressing the state’s mental health needs. Through a series of activities, including meetings with lawmakers, a group photo with the Governor, and educational stations, we will demonstrate the importance of our profession to those shaping Georgia’s policies.

LPC Day at the Capitol is your chance to make a difference. Together, we will raise awareness, advocate for change, and ensure that Georgia’s leaders understand the essential role professional counselors play in shaping the future of mental health care.
